About Bart …
I see clients both in person at our San Francisco clinic and online as a Board-Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). I’m able to offer telehealth services to clients in twelve different states (you’ll find the full list below).
I work with individuals who want to gain personal insight, find relief from anxiety or depression, and address a wide range of mental health challenges. I also see couples and other types of relationships, whatever form those might take.
My therapy style is integrative, rooted in Carl Rogers’ person-centered approach, and also draws on my many years of psychodynamic psychotherapy experience. When we work together, we’ll create a customized treatment plan based on your unique needs. I’m trained in evidence-based methods like Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Solutions-Focused Therapy, CBT, and ACT, and I approach substance use issues from a harm-reduction perspective. I also weave in mindfulness, narrative, feminist, and interpersonal techniques as needed.
In terms of credentials, I’m a National Board-Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a Board-Certified Counselor (NCC). I also hold Board Certification as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Licensed for Independent Practice (CMHC-IND) from the American Mental Health Counselors Association. I’m licensed to provide psychotherapy in California, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Washington, and Wisconsin, and I offer international telehealth services for clients in Belgium, India, and Norway, as well as others.
My academic background started at UCLA, and after some time studying in Burma, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Psychology from New College of California. I went on to receive my Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from the California School of Professional Psychology. I’m also a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
