Hi, my name is Stefan Baumgartner, and I’m a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I want there to be more beauty, justice, and compassion in the world, and I work toward this goal in my life and the lives of my clients. I weave this ethos into my clinical work by seeing you as a unique whole being with innate strengths and dignity, listening and reflecting without judgement, and creating a therapeutic relationship built on warmth, openness, authenticity, and collaboration.
Rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I work with clients to identify their values and provide exercises and skills to turn those values into everyday action, all leading to a life filled with vitality, meaning, and purpose. I integrate this evidenced-based approach with other modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In addition, I enjoy bringing creativity and imagination into sessions through mindfulness and visualization techniques.
I work with individuals to gain insight, navigate life transitions, and address a wide range of mental health challenges. I am passionate about working with queer and trans individuals, seeking to build resilience and heal trauma. I have experience working with children and their caregivers, adolescents, and adults of all ages. I have experience running groups with a focus in destigmatizing vulnerability and mental health challenges. I am trained in Gottman (Level 1) couples therapy and utilize that model within relationship work.
I’m deeply committed to walking alongside you through your healing and personal growth. I believe that unique ability lies within you and my role is to help you uncover and harness it as you meet life’s many challenges.
